Camp Widjiwagan is an action-packed summer experience where confidence is created through skill development and new friendships are the result of teamwork. Camp Widjiwagan offering summer camp for boys and girls for one and two week overnight sessions for campers 3rd grade through 11th grade and two week sessions of day camp for 1st-8th & 10th-11th grades. Widjiwagan is an Ojibwa word meaning close, lifelong friend. Because of the nature of teamwork required at Camp Widjiwagan, campers will not only learn more about themselves and their surroundings; they will create lasting friendships, too.
At Camp Widjiwagan, campers will strengthen confidence, forge friendships, and sharpen character through programs and activities that build independence and social skills. Water Activities include: swimming, Wet Willy Water slide, the Blob, sailing and many more. Land activities include: horseback riding, soccer, basketball, alpine tower, zip line, archery, arts & crafts and many more.
YMCA Camp Widjiwagan is located on the shores of Percy Priest Lake, in Nashville, Tennessee, just 20 minutes from downtown. Camp Widjiwagan sits on 320 acres and 4 miles of shoreline at the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center. Although we have excellent facilities and programs, the secret to our success is an outstanding staff.
Camp provides children with a community of caring adult role models, who nurture self-respect and appreciation for others. Campers' return home more caring and are more equipped to stand up for what they know is right and are more responsible. Camp Widjiwagan maintains a 1:5 staff to camper ratio to ensure camper safety. Camp grows children into happy, independent, confident and capable people.
