Davis YMCA Outdoor Center provides a unique setting to create functional, unified teams through recreational teambuilding.
The Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center provides an environment where your team will work together to develop shared responsibility, individual accountability and mutual support during each activity. The YMCA's rustic outdoor setting allows you to step away from the tensions of the office or school and begin to work as a team at a basic level. Discussions may be led by our facilitators or your group leaders to help teams discover fresh, innovative approaches to working together to achieve organizational goals. Useful parallels are drawn to the workplace and other life situations.
Teambuilding participants leave the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center with a springboard to transfer the unity, cooperation, and teamwork experienced during the teambuilding exercises back to their organization. Best of all, the laughing, playing and working together promote a sense of camaraderie and pride that lasts well beyond the day's events.
Teambuilding Experience
Our staff will work with your group to customize a program that addresses specific issues affecting your organization. Challenges presented to your group will require team work to successfully accomplish the established goals. Some of the exercises that we use are described below.
Group Initiatives
These ground level challenges are designed to utilize teamwork, placing group goals above of the individual. Each initiative helps establish a basis of trust, communication, and teambuilding.
Alpine Tower
A 50' climbing tower provides the opportunity for individuals and groups toset goals and achieve success. The experience increases self confidence and promotes group support while stretching physical and emotional lines people have drawn for themselves.
Giant Swing
The giant swing will help participants reach new heights and aspire for higher goals, go above and beyond their capabilities, and ascend to limits they never thought possible. But more than that, the swing is fun, people laugh, sometimes they scream, and regularly they cheer the success of others!
High Ropes Course
This course promotes problem solving, communication and listening skills, conflict resolution, and an appreciation of fellow workers as partners dependent upon each other throughout the course. Participants will experience ahigh-adrenaline, exciting way to discover untapped resources and strengths.
TeamTree House
Several team members combine their efforts to climb the corporate ladder to the top or our 50' tree house. It's an exciting way to overcome self-imposed limitations as participants work together to support and hoist one another to the top.
Mt. Widji Team Climb
Team members will be tethered together as they ascend our second climbing tower. Because the participants are linked together, they must work together to accomplish their goal. Participants must also rely on their teammates, as they are the ones belaying the climbers.

The Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center has an excellent selection of both indoor and outdoor venues for your teambuilding group.
Ralph Brunson Great Hall
The Great Hall is our largest and most beautiful room. The Great Hall found inside the Clark D. Baker Lodge can seat up to 200guests and offers camps most beautiful View of J. Percy Priest Lake. The Great Hall, with its hardwood floors, high ceilings, and brick fireplace, is a popular choice for parties, dinners and large meetings.
Clark D. Baker Lodge
Predator and Lakeview Rooms
Also located inside the Clark D. Baker Lodge the Predator and Lakeview Rooms offer an intimate space for smaller group gathering and breakout sessions.
Cedar Lodge
Tucked away in a quiet cedar grove, the Cedar Lodge accommodates groups of up to 100 people and includes four separate open-air pavilions for break-out space.
Central Pavilion
The Central Pavilion is the perfect setting for a casual picnic on warm summer afternoon. Seating up to 200 people, this area is centrally located and provides convenient access to all of our popular activities for your best company picnic.
